Our artisans creatively hand embroider, hand paint and hand print the blouses that come to you from the design house of SVASA. We use hand woven fabric extensively. You may notice very minute, almost insignificant flaws in the crafts since they are all handmade. We urge our patrons to overlook a few human errors that may have occurred in the process. Our aspirations are towards an empowered society, focusing on keeping traditional needlecraft alive for a long time to come.

Black linen fabric is always a must in any designer's work studio. Every centimetre of black fabric will somehow find its place into most ensembles. This onyx black linen has been embroidered with an all over design in front with leaves and creepers using a vanilla white cotton thread to give it a Matt finish. A black with white embroidered blouse can be matched with most saree colors including the transparent silks from Maheswar for example. The back is cut deep in a leaf shaped drop using black and white striped khadi. Another floral paisely motif on the sleeves in white. Our girl has worn a simple saree in checks . We have also matched it for occasion wear with a beautiful tussar woven from the looms of Gopalpur in Odisha. It's called the "Phoda Khumba" which is similar to the "Korvai" . To create the look and weave it's Tussar on the warp and silk on the weft. Drape on ladies BLACK ONYX needs no occasion.

The KORA fabric from MALKHA that is naturally dyed with the waste from KATHA (the brown paste we use on the beetel leaves or paan) is on our revival list for this weekend. The fabric is coarse textured but feels super soft on the skin. The natural processes of dying make this fabric an absolute pleasure to work with. The cotton is never baled or compressed hence making this fabric so comfortable to wear. Its a forever favorite on the Svasa design list. Another combination of the “SUNFLOWER” design that this fabric did full justice to. The sleeves were matched with a soft grey zig zag to merge with our colors for the day. The bold motif embroidered in two shades of INDIGO to complement the indigo colored border surprised us when we were done. We hope at Svasa we have done our bit to support Malkha in restoring the local economies and the earth and we sure look forward to many more such revivals. The saree is a simple INDIGO print. INDIGO AND KATHA is our tribute to the hardworking MALKHA team.

The light turquoise colour handloom a rare find. We wanted to create something unique with this unusual yardage. Hence two leaf shaped motifs from the mughal designs were recreated from our revival pages in a darker blue and light blue. The entire blouse is studded with tiny mirrors and lined with a matching hand printed border. This blouse is an absolute must have for its creative blend of colours so rare and precious. TURQUOISE AND LEAVES for a calm on a Tuesday.
